Connie is risk-averse: she doesn’t want her father to buy a larger grocery store, and she worries her fiancé Dick will fail his big league baseball try-out and quit the sport. She falsely tells a scout that Dick has a sore arm so he isn’t signed; Dick finds out and breaks up with her. Connie changes her ways and urges her father to buy the new store. Dick gets a second try-out and succeeds, but he goes off with Kitty, who never lost faith in him. Connie is left alone.
